1 John 1:9

Continuing with the series of my favorite scriptures today will be on 1 John 1:9.

1 John 1:9
New International Version (NIV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 is a pertinent scripture for those who are on the fence about whether they want to accept Christ into their lives or not. One of the hindrances that prevent people from accepting Christ is the fact that they may have had a “wild” past or have participated in any particular sins and that God would not forgive them of those things because either they believe what they have done was “so bad” or that they aren’t worthy to be forgiven.

Sometimes it’s hard to think that no matter what we have done or said in the past, we can and will be forgiven when we confess to God. We are so use to dealing with people on this earth remembering everything we have said an done at certain times in our life that it can seem like we can’t “escape” it. We all know or have known someone who can “reach” so far back in to your past and bring it up today just to remind you of your shortcomings or experiences that you may now not be proud of…well God is not like that! He will not remind you of every little thing that you have done wrong after you have already confessed to him about, “…He is faithful and just and WILL FORGIVE us our sins…”

Believe and know that you are worth being forgiven; you are worth God’s time, grace and mercy. He will not hate you because you have gone against Him in the past and now want to get right with Him….all He cares about first is for you to come to Him and know that he is the one and only true God…the rest is easy after that.

There is no better feeling than being forgiven for any and all that you have done in the world or even as someone who was already saved.
