Tis The Season

This is Christmas season spend some time throughout your day to reflect on all the things that God has done for you this past year,2014,and see where you are in life now. Are you where you want to be? Or are you still on your journey?

Declare that 2015 will be a year of excellence, abundance and victory.

I personally do not set New Year Resolutions, however I do expect great things to occur in each year. This year will be full of amazing changes that will usher in a fresh anointing.

This year has been a blessed year, full of ups and downs that I have brought me to where I am today, I’m not done yet, but I do feel like I have grown. How about you?

In the midst of all the racial and political unrest that had stirred up this later part of the year, we can’t be moved. Do not let the rage of others penetrate your spirit-there is no reason to be up in arms over the wickedness in the world. As believers we should already know that the world will get darker and darker, the wicked acts of people will only increase. Of course it is hard to see it played out on television and dealing with people arguing over their position on the various topics however we have to remain in peace.

Go into the new year with peace and know that as long as you believe, no attack of the enemy can harm you!

Personal Breakthrough

Galatians 1:10New King James Version (NKJV)
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

For many of us who are perfectionist and have small bouts of anxiety when things don’t go right or approached with things that are foreign to us, we struggle with the idea of pleasing man more so than God.

What keeps us trapped is our need to please everyone around us and not mess up, to avoid disappointing others and fearing that they will look down on you.

Personal breakthrough is next to impossible when we are focused on pleasing anyone other than God. The pressure of not being able to conquer a fear that everyone knows you have prevents us from reaching our full potential.

For years I haven’t been able to drive on the freeway after having two nerve-wrecking experiences. I allowed other’s fears and horrible experiences overlap my fears from being inexperienced and thus “crippling” myself in that area. I noticed that if I allowed that “crippling” process to happen-fear overlapping other’s negative experiences- I would continue to be wrapped up in self-inflicted bondage.

It wasn’t until I finally got so wrapped up in bondage that my physical and mental body turned on me and ended up on bed rest from a stress/worry induced neck injury. It wasn’t until I gradually let go of the worries I had and the self-inflicted need to have to get everything done and done right-right away, that I was able to breakthrough each chain that had bound me.

I finally made up my mind that I was going to get on the freeway and gave up every worry/anxious thought up to the Lord for Him to handle. That was when I felt the biggest breakthrough in entire life-it was a supernatural release that allowed me to break that final chain.

You can breakthrough any chains in your life, if you make up your mind and give it all to Him!

Amazing

Genesis 1:1New King James Version (NKJV)

The History of Creation

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In this fast pace life of ours we forget to stop and look up and appreciate some of God’s creations.
On a road trip to Southern California from the Bay Area we got to ‘stop’ and enjoy how amazing the mountains are. The mountains reach so high up and are perfectly formed, some with trees on it some with just bushes scattered throughout. Some of the mountains are dark brown almost black and some are golden or red. Creations like mountains are just one of those things they we don’t get to appreciate for whatever reason. The sky and all the shades of reds and yellows when the sun rises and sets is like a God took a paint brush and made several brush strokes over the sky. The blue sky with scattered white clouds and the sun shining is so beautiful like a scene out of a children’s story book.

Colossians 1:16New King James Version (NKJV)
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

God created everything! Sometimes I have to stop and look at my surroundings and just sit in awe of how beautifully and wonderfully made we all are, how complex the human body is, how intricate the seed that sprouted roots and developed the trees. Everything around us has a purpose and was made to support another function and so on in this complex chain.

Don’t forget just how amazing our God really is!!

Envious

Proverbs 24:1-3King James Version (KJV)
24 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

The dividing line between those who have and those who don’t have has gotten rapidly larger and larger. The middle class are being pushed to fall in line with either the rich or the poor. As this line continues to get larger and the classes becoming more defined the envy for having those things that rich have has become more desirable.

The rich are flaunting their wealth on purpose and those that don’t have anything are being visually stimulated with things that they can’t get their hands on. Of course this may not be a foreign concept, but if you have paid attention over the past 10 or so years, the focus on the rich and fabulous has become more fascinating and the job market and debt has gotten worse. So when you have a financial system that is failing and having some of the wealthiest people getting richer the focus on the fabulous has gotten more toxic to the point that it has become an obsession.

Do not be envious of those who have more than you. There is nothing wrong with wanting things, but not to the point that you want what someone has to the point of feeling like you deserve it more than the person or are willing to do anything to get it. The Lord is faithful to give you the desires of your heart; as long as it is in His will (not to cause harm to someone else or yourself) ask Him and stay righteous and He will deliver those things you desire or opportunities to get those things.

End Times

As  a Christian we have all heard of “end times”, depending on how new you were to the concept, it would always strike fear in most and would automatically be translated as literally the last few days before Christ returns. However, the fear of the last days and the  ‘last few days’ belief is wrong.
As believers we should not be scared when the talk of end times is brought up, in fact you should be more at ease because that means that we are closer to the return of Christ and getting to be with Him again! It’s not a sin to be a little uneasy about the whole situation because the world has to get worse before things get better.

We ARE in the last days! But this does not mean that the world is going to end in a weeks’ time, but that we have already entered the final chapter before the end of this evil world. The world will not be destroyed by some meteor and then it’s all over-it’s actually a progression of different events that have to occur that are listed in Revelations. Wars, earthquakes, famines, and much more that have to come to pass before the Lord can return.

Instead of being in fear anytime you hear “end times” or trying to ignore those things that deal with the subject, be aware! Watch the news, go to church and read your bibles! It’s important to know where we are in the timeline and what to be prepared for. The Lord has shared all these things that have to come to pass so that we can be prepared and have are hearts at ease during these precarious times.

Hold On!

Do not be discouraged when those things that you have prayed for or declared-have not yet manifested. All those things that you are waiting on to manifest WILL come to pass as long as you stand on His word. Do not speak against your prayers and declarations, don’t pray for financial break through and then turn around and say to someone “I’m always broke” or “I can’t afford anything”.

Speaking from experience, it takes time for certain things to manifest. The “larger” desires, such as money in thousands usually take longer than those desires for a couple hundred dollars. Those “larger” desires for a spouse will usually take longer than those desires for a date for Friday night.

As long as we have our desires in perspective we will have a much easier time waiting because now we have an idea of how long it may take for certain things to manifest.

Of course there’s no formula that will give you when exactly God will physically manifest those tangible desires, however because we are human and have to have an idea/hope to hold on to, we need to ease our minds by knowing that certain desires are going to take a while. It will manifest! Don’t think because you know it will take longer than a small desire, that you can just do or say whatever in the meantime. We have to stay standing on His word and watching our own words, no matter how long it takes to manifest, when you finally reach the other side and have your desire in your hands, all that waiting makes the receiving that much more sweeter!

Vision Board part2

After you have collected several pictures for your vision board it’s time to get a poster board. Lay out all your pictures on the board to figure out how you want to place each picture, allowing for room for writing next to or under any pictures that need more information.

The poster board will allow you to see your images all together and be able to post the board somewhere in your room/closet/office so you can always see it. If you want your vision pictures to be kept private and don’t have the room for the large board, make it into a book. Paste your pictures on regular 8.5 x 11 in paper and insert them into sheet protectors and/or just insert them into a project folder or binder.

Don’t forget to write next any images that don’t look exactly what you have envisioned or may need more clarification. Remember God is a detailed God.

This board/book is a way for you to be reminded of what you want in life. Some things may change so you can replace items on the board, or you can make note of those things that you have received or accomplished. Seeing those things on your board is a visual reminder that there are goals that you have to achieve.

This isn’t for things that ONLY you have do but with faith in God, these things will be added to you. Some things are just going to come to you because God knows that you are standing on your faith and ability to gain specific things.

Pray over your board or book to make your request known.

“Lord I am coming before you with my vision board (or book) of what I desire. I know that you are faithful to bless me with those things that I desire. You will give me favor with people I need to achieve my goals. I am asking you for these things on my board (or book) as you said in Matthew 21:22, if I ask, believe and I will receive them.Thank you Lord for your word and I believe that I receive these things, in Jesus name, Amen.”

Vision Board

Every person should have an idea of how they want their future to look. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to know exactly what you want your future to look like, however it is important to have an idea and then as time goes on-expand on it.

Grab a shoe box or plastic baggie and use it to gather images that depict or come close to what you want. If the picture you selected doesn’t have all the correct elements, such as color, location, etc... make sure to write down on your notes all the correct (detailed) information for what the picture is supposed to depict.

To get started, write down some things you want to achieve and things, as in material things that you want to own. You don’t have to start out with anything profound or major achievements, start out with material things that you desire. Obviously those material things can’t be items that would cause harm to yourself and others, for example drugs, weapons and so on. If there’s a new phone you’ve been wanting for a while and you want it because it has some features you’ve been needing or want to be able to use-find a picture of it whether it be in a magazine or online, cut or print it out and it to your show box or baggie so you can come back to it when you’re ready to post it on your board.

Single

As a young women we are constantly bombarded with sex, sexuality and relationships to the point that if we aren’t sexually active, in a relationship or identify as anything other than straight, we are instantly pushed out of the “inner circle” and labeled as weird, losers or liars.

It’s sad that when women say that they are a virgin they are instantly accused of lying or looked at as if they have two heads. As time has gone on sex has gotten more and more prevalent than ever before; children are having to be educated about safe sex at a much younger age, in most cases at the age of 9 years old.
When did being a virgin become so antiquated?

Although, there’s a flip side to the acceptance of sex; one can not have too much sex or they’re considered to be freaks or addicts or they are have/having sex with too many partners. Oh, and don’t forget it’s also bad if you are sleeping with the person on the first date!

It’s funny how there is “morality clauses” within immoral practices. So one can have premarital sex with ONLY a few people, but they have to be beyond the first or possibly second date (unless they’re famous or attractive to everyone), and can’t have too much sex unless you want someone to label you a freak.  And if you’re single you are expected to date because “it’s only normal” to do, but if you’re single and rather wait for the right one or pray about possibly going out with someone, they are looked at as a “weird Jesus freak” or a “prude”.

I have learned that not everyone has to feel like they have to keep up with the pace of those who are constantly going out with someone and sleeping with random people that they think are cute or nice or “just for fun”. Go at your own pace, pray about it, pray for your future spouse, not just a boyfriend or girlfriend but someone that you can spend your life with.

You are not condemned if you have already had sex and lived life like your friends, but now is the time to make that shift from casual sex and down grading the idea of saving yourself; and start being mindful of who you let get close to you and abstain.

Godly

2 Peter 1:3
New International Version (NIV)
Confirming One’s Calling and Election
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

We all have the ability to lead godly lives, however life doesn’t provide a safe environment to lead a godly life. Because we live in such a conflicting world, where everyone has their own interpretation of who God is and what it means to live a godly life it causes confusion for those of us who are trying to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Everyone has an interpretation for how to lead a godly life; in 2 Peter 1 we see that in order to live a godly life is through the knowledge of the Lord.

What does it mean by knowledge of Him?

The way we gain knowledge about anything is by studying books, researching online or watching somebody or something complete an action as well as using some of our common sense to fill in the holes.

The way we gain knowledge about the Lord is by reading and studying the word, through prayer and hearing the word of God. When we stay constant, reading or listening only to the same concepts-the Lord’s word, we can live a godly life.

Be Happy

Be happy where you are in life, even if it’s not where you want to be in the long run. The reason you need to be happy where you currently are in life is because you are alive and could have been in a worse situation. You could be living outside in park, be on your death bed or even suffering from several mental illnesses. The point is that it could always be worse, but it ISN’T.

You have the ability to change your mind about your current situation and move forward. Do not wallow in the past successes that are no longer present, do not become depressed because you thought you would be further in your career, in your relationship or Christian walk.

Don’t forget ALL the blessings in your life don’t look back on them as a way to compare then and now, but look back at them and know that it can happen again. Blessings aren’t offered as a one-time only deal, you can be where you use to be or in a better position if that’s a desire of your heart. The goal is to stay the course that you’re on and be prayerful about all your future decisions and about where it is that you would like to be and asking God where He would like to see you.

If after prayer the Holy Spirit says that God has something different in mind for don’t be discouraged, just know that He has greater in mind for your life and may tap into a gifting that you never knew you had, or He knows you need to have more or new experience in an area before you enter the season you’re waiting for.
Be happy where you are and expect more for the future!

Choose Life!

Deuteronomy 11:26-28
New King James Version (NKJV)
26 “Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; 28 and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.

Most people have heard the saying “choose life, not death”, but many don’t really grasp what that means. Choosing life doesn’t ONLY mean that you don’t do things that are physically harmful and that may kill you, but it means to choose to follow the commandments of the Lord. Life is in the word of God and manifested by the word of God, not just by default because you stopped doing risky things.

Choosing death is choosing to go against the Lord’s commandments whether knowingly or unknowingly. I believe there has been a misunderstanding that death can only be a physical thing; choosing death is choosing to break your marriage vows by having an affair, or by spending your time listening/entertaining things that mocks or lies about God and the Bible. Choosing death means that you act based on what your flesh wants, sexual pleasure outside of marriage, doing drugs, excessive drinking, cussing people out, fighting, disobeying what God has told you, and so on.

Choosing death isn’t permanent, if you recognize that you made the wrong choice change! Repent and change your ways, to the ways of the Lord. There is no punishment for making a mistake or being ignorant when you are able to recognize the mistake and make a change for the better.

Longsuffering

Galatians 5:22-23
New King James Version (NKJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

long-suf·fer·ing
adjective
1.      having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people.

The fruits of the spirit are attributes that we are supposed to take on because we have the Holy Spirit in us we are capable of expressing all the fruits. However, when our flesh gets in the way, we have an extremely difficult time bearing these fruits, because it’s not our natural characteristics…at least for most of us in this world.

I have learned that there are certain fruits of the Spirit that are harder to master than others, of course this varies from person to person, such as “longsuffering”, can be an extremely hard task to master because this requires you dealing with others, whether their actions towards you, towards themselves, getting their life together so everyone around them can be at ease.

I am reminded that the Lord is longsuffering, bearing with us when we choose wrong or get distracted, or even still in the world and had not accepted Him as your Lord and Savior. So when that sibling, friend, family member, coworker or whoever is behaving contrary to what you like or what you know is right, we have to remember that they are under the same longsuffering covering with God as you are. They have to be longsuffering so you do to. They may not even be believers however we still have to be longsuffering through all their mess and issues.

No one has mastered all of these fruits other than Jesus, so even if you struggle to be longsuffering, push through it and get back to resting the flesh that wants to lash out towards someone when they get on your nerves doing the same foolish things.

John 16:24

John 16:24
New King James Version (NKJV)
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

There is not greater name than the name of Jesus, this is why we must include His name in our prayers. There will be times when we may forget to use His name in our prayer, but we have to make sure to use it because there is power behind it.

When we ask for things in His name He hears us, as believers, and He can act on it. When we don’t ask in His name, He can’t act on it or act as quickly because we didn’t specify that we have called on Him to bring something to pass or to receive something.

Now, we know that God can do whatever He pleases, but His word says to ask in His name and we will receive. There is confidence in asking in Jesus’ name that our requests have been made known and that it is officially in His hands to do with.

With asking in His name helps build your faith that He can and will do what He has promised, that if you ask and believe, you will receive.

2 Peter 3:9

2 Peter 3:9
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[a] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

I have noticed that as times get darker and some going through major trials, they forget the power of the promise that the Lord had given them.

It’s not easy to remember that we have God on our side when things go wrong. This is one of the biggest reasons why we have to be in church or at least have righteous friends in church. Somehow we have to have some connection to the word of God even when you feel disconnected because of your situation.

What won me over for Christ is that He is not like any other man or woman that break promises or leave you when you don’t have anything to give; He stays with you no matter what you have or what your social, financial or emotional status. This is why we have to look towards Him when we are feeling lowly or lost.

It may sound cliché but Christ is the key to happiness and success. He bears with us through our messes and when we miss it and when we completely block Him out when something goes wrong. The important thing is to come back to Him, sooner rather than later, and back on track.

Waiting

I don’t know about you, but I understand what it’s like to have to wait for things you declared to finally manifest.

Waiting/Patience is truly a virtue because it takes a lot for some of us to wait on something or someone. Patience growing up was my biggest weakness, I wanted things now, and especially if someone already said they were going to do something or say something.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that the more you try to rush things the more likely that the outcome will be disappointing. I would always try to rush things because I wanted things now and if it depended on someone else’s actions I would try to do whatever it is to help them speed it up.

Those times when you feel like you can’t take it anymore, and that you want what you want now, stop yourself and say “Lord I know you have your perfect timing and I know that I have what I declared and because in Your word said in Mark 11:22-24 that I have what I say and I thank you that I have what I say, in Jesus name, Amen.”

If you feel anxious or any other unsettling emotion, just bind the emotion(s) by saying, “I bind the spirit of _______ (i.e. fear/anxiety,etc…) for You said that I have Your peace, not the peace of the world, I thank you that I have peace and not ________, amen.”

The results from waiting in God’s timing is sooo much better than something that was rushed when all I needed was patience. I hope you can benefit from this and not get frustrated waiting on your declaration/prayer for something.

Word Works For Those Who Believe

Hebrews 4:1-3
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Promise of Rest
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them,[a] not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’”[
b]
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Many people have tried to prove the bible worthless by randomly taking something from the bible such as praying and receiving, and fail at it therefore thinking that the bible is useless.

Contrary to popular belief, not everybody has the authority that it takes to speak things into existence. The word of God doesn’t work for everyone, aside from His love, forgiveness and praying to accept Him into your hearts.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t some difficult exclusive club that you have to past tests in order to join-it’s just FAITH!

Never has the Lord turned away anyone who has come to Him in prayer asking Him to come into their hearts. This is what brings joy to His heart! The more the merrier! Not one person was meant to follow anyone or anything else except Him, so this is why He made it so easy to come to Him, without having a litany of prerequisites.

Don’t be fooled by the unbelievers claiming that there are inconsistencies in the Word of God. Think of it this way, would you trust the word or even habits of a mechanic on how to play the stock market?  Or trust a real estate broker to inform you on how a train functions?

So don’t be quick to rely on the “experiences” or advice from unqualified sources. A qualified source would be someone who has been in the word for an extensive period, has maintained their faith in Christ, and has continuously bare good fruit (are good people who actively operate in love, patience, kindness, and so forth as well as live in the blessings of the Lord and are able to help others). So far this excludes most if not ALL of those out there trying to use the bible as something silly, fun or a way to discredit it, because they don’t know how to work the word.

Tempted

Hebrews 4:15
New King James Version (NKJV)
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

The reasons as to why we are told not to sin even though we will be tempted each and every day, is partly because Christ was tempted and made it through with out sinning. You can argue that He wasn’t just any man and that He had divine authority and protection, however so do we thanks to Jesus. He came as God in the flesh to serve as an example of how we should be and to “pay our debts”.

It is possible to get through life without giving into sin, however most of us will at some point or another, if we haven’t already done so. The point isn’t necessarily going from birth through death without having sinned once, that would be great, but we learn from our mistakes, how great God’s love is and how forgiving He is, among other things such as being able to relate to someone else and help them or vice versa.

Never stop trying to be sinless, but also don’t be ashamed that you have sinned, but ask for forgiveness and move forward. It doesn’t matter if you mess up in life, God won’t turn His back on you because you feel prey to sin or a particular sin-but you must return to Him or go to Him (if you weren’t already a believer).

He understands that we have to face temptation on a regular basis and that it can be trying on our flesh, because He went through the same things despite the fact that he was born miraculously and without sin.

Abstain

This is one of the most controversial subjects probably in the world. The church as a whole has become the poster child of “abstinence, guilt and strict confinement” to the world. Unfortunately because of this it quickly became an insult to “accuse” someone of being a virgin or abstaining until marriage, especially if the person claiming to be doing so is male.

Being abstinent is not a punishment or unthinkable task to do. I believe that if society hadn’t automatically deemed abstinence as moronic or old school thinking, more people would be abstaining from many things, not just sexual activities.

To the ladies:

Just because all of your friends have participated in various sexual activities doesn’t mean YOU have to. What will YOU gain when YOU follow your friend’s patterns? How does it make you any better of a person if you have sex “just because” you thought you needed to. You dictate what you do with your body, but let the Holy Spirit operate it-meaning yes you can do whatever you want with your body because of our free will, but don’t be reckless and know that the Holy Spirit will guide you to not just any cute boy/man but instead will lead you to your husband. If you want this path of abstinence until marriage give your life over to Jesus, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour and then ask for your sins to be forgiven and ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

To the men:

Just like what the women go through, the peer pressure to hook up with a girl right away starting at a young age is almost impossible to escape. A great start is choosing quality friends, not just friends that you grew up with friends that have a similar mindset, professionally and relationship wise. But you can always start where you are, just let them know that you’re looking for a quality woman, one that will be your wife, not just any random girl that happens to be attractive. Of course there’s going to be one or two guys that are going to laugh or try to push you even more to hook up with someone, but you must stand your ground-if they’re your friend they’ll drop it and let you be you, but if they never let it go then you know to drop them!

Be Abundantly Supplied

No matter how many times a Pastor has brought up anything having to do with money, people around them get really uncomfortable and sometimes very dismissive because they feel that finances and faith are unrelated.

I cannot stress enough that God wants ALL His people to be abundantly supplied. Don’t get rich and abundant confused-because ‘rich’ has such an arrogant connotation, we have the ability to become abundantly supplied, meaning ALL of our needs are met.

Most people think Christians should be simple people living with the bare minimum and little money. This is not what God had in mind for us, don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that if you are in that state that you are not a Christian or that God is mad at you, He wants you to move up. We all have to want more for ourselves and others and in order to be effective. You have to have something in order to help someone else, to provide shelter, gas, help with bills, food, clothes, traveling to get to somewhere/someone and so on. All the basic things in this world needs money at some point and this is why we have to be abundantly supplied. This also includes the connections you make with other people who have things that can help you help another, such as because you had the extra finances to travel to the next town to meet a friend who is stuck on the side of the road, you meet a man at a rest stop that has a towing service and is willing to tow your friend’s truck back to their home for half the price!

These things don’t happen by chance they happen because you had the finances and the favor of the Lord to help someone else and gave you a lower price to help that friend.

Being abundantly supplied means you and your family have all their needs met and have extra to do what you please (hopefully you choose wisely as to what to do).

Don’t be living on the cusp of financial downfall, be at a state of having more than enough!
