Tragedy

Tragic events happen everyday, but we are left confused as to how to react to life's tragedy. How are we suppose to feel or react to deaths of loved ones, deaths of those we hear about on television? Do we worry about our well being, do we become jaded or do we pray for those left behind?

The truth is that is no one way to react to tragedy. All we can do spiritually, is to pray for those left behind and pray for the circumstance to help benefit someone else. Sometime tragedy is what it takes for someone to come to the Lord, not that the Lord caused someone to die, but He can always turn what was meant for evil into something for the good.

It's always good to know that the Lord does not cause young children to die or suffer from diseases and illnesses. We have to remember that there is evil in the world and that we have free will-both combined can cause bad things to happen, unintentionally or intentionally. Regardless, God can turn all of it around when you believe. All young children belong to the Lord be default, so Satan may take their lives from them, but their spirit still belongs to the Lord and they will return to Him after death. This should at least give a modicum of reassurance during a time of grief/tragedy.

Make it a habit to pray for situations you hear about on the news, or things that are making you feel concerned or worried. It doesn't have to be a long prayer, just speak what comes to your heart.

Blessed

When we think of being blessed we typically think of the fact that we have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and certain opportunities. Those are major blessings, but there is soo much more in store for all of God’s children.

We have the blessing of Abraham, we are abundantly blessed and it is up to us to claim it. This means we can’t ask God for access to only a little of what you need or want we have to reach out for more than enough, to be soo blessed that you are able to bless others.

In fact if you think about it, you are being selfish to not want or seek more from God.You are not in this world just for yourself, you are here for a reason-you have a purpose to fulfill and that purpose no matter how great or little always involves someone else benefiting as well.

Genesis 12:1-3

New King James Version (NKJV)

Promises to Abram

12 Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

All the promises that Abraham was given is also given freely to us.

We all as believers have an inheritance that is sitting there waiting to be claimed. Think of it as an inheritance from a loved one that you haven’t don’t even know it’s there or choose to ignore it. What sense does that make?  Grab a hold of it! And be blessed! Then spread the wealth!

Galatians 3:9
King James Version (KJV)
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
